ENMU-Roswell Recognizes Top Employees

ROSWELL – A number of ENMU-Roswell employees were the recipients of plaques, checks and certificates during the fall faculty and staff in-service meeting held Aug. 23 on campus. Dr. Steven Gamble, ENMU president, presented 2002 "Spirit of Eastern" awards to six ENMU-R employees.

The award program recognizes personnel whose performance exemplifies those qualities that make Eastern unique: teaching/learning, campus community spirit, hard work, care about the institution, whole student life commitment, and demonstrated track record in their position.

Two faculty members, two professional employees and two support staff employees received the awards. They are: Gina Buldra, instructor and director of the Respiratory Therapy Program; Jessie Hall, director of Financial Aid; Sheila Lopez, administrative secretary, Student Development; Heidi Peek, Shipping and Receiving inventory specialist; Bob Phillips, sociology and psychology instructor; and Betty Patton, reading instructor. Each received a plaque, a pin, and a check for $300.

Dr. Judy Armstrong, ENMU-Roswell provost, presented certificates and pins to a number of employees in recognition of their years of service. They are:

Five Years – Jim Baird, Food Services Director; Constance A. Young, Program Specialist, Talent Search; Esley A. Robinson, Custodial Supervisor; and Robert Rhodes, Director of Customized Training

Ten Years – Mary Lou Hightower, Director of Student Support Services; Frank Pino, Program Specialist, Educational Opportunity Center; Richard D. Griego, Network/Systems Manager; Hector Longoria, Special Services Instructor; and Janice Tharp, Freshman Seminar and Success Skills for Health Careers Instructor

Graduates of the sixth Leadership ENMU-Roswell class were also recognized for their
participation and received framed certificates. In 16 sessions throughout the school year,
participants learn about the operations of every department and office on campus.

The 2001-2002 graduates are: Oly Castillo, Switchboard Operator/Information Specialist; Lynette Dockal, Student Records Clerk; Lori Lopez, Payroll Supervisor; Madge Johnson, Department Secretary-Medical Assisting, Medical Transcription, Phlebotomy, and Respiratory Therapy Programs; Merry Jarm, Department Secretary, Customized Training; Natasha Mackey, Instructor, Freshman Seminar, Success Skills for Health Careers;

Teresa Martinez, Department Secretary, Aviation Maintenance Technology; David Peschka, Physical and Life Sciences, Instructor; Nancy Vale, Accounting Clerk, Business Office; Lisa Buchanan, Recruiter and Academic Advisor; Kate Cox, Executive Assistant, Provost; Lorraine Miller, Business Education Instructor; Sherry Durand, Division Secretary, Liberal Arts Division; John Johnson, Special Services Instructor; Hilda Pacheco, Assistant Director of Adult Basic Education; Jo Anna Salsberry, Publications Coordinator; and Al Wilson, Director, New Mexico Works Program.
