PORTALES – Upward Bound at Eastern New Mexico University in Portales has openings for high school students to participate.
High school students from the following towns can be considered: Portales (including Broad Horizons), Floyd, Dora, Elida, Clovis, Texico, Hondo, and Ruidoso. The students also have to be classified as a freshman, sophomore or junior.
Out-of-town participants will be transported to the Portales campus of Eastern New Mexico University the first and third Saturday of each month. Activities will include taking a pre-ACT test, and learning math, English, science and study skills.
Upward Bound also takes a tour each semester in a University van. For example, previous participants have gone to a museum in Lubbock, visited Texas Tech University, then concluded the evening with a hockey game.
