ENMU Hosting Jazz Fest

PORTALES—The Department of Music at Eastern New Mexico University in Portales is presenting the ENMU Jazz Fest at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 15 in Buchanan Hall of the Music Building and Friday, March 16 at 7 p.m. on the Main Stage of the University Theatre Center.

On Thursday the Jazz Fest will feature the ENMU Jazz Combo, followed by the High Winds Jazztet with guest artist Brad Goode on bass.  On Friday night, the festival will feature the Clovis High School Jazz Ensembles I and II, followed by the ENMU Jazz Ensemble with Goode on trumpet.   He will give a jazz clinic open to everyone at 4:30 p.m. on Friday on the University Theatre Main Stage.

All events are free and open to the public.

Goode is a recording artist, and currently assistant professor of jazz studies at the University of Colorado.  He earned his bachelor's degree in trumpet at the University of Kentucky, and his master's degree in bass at DePaul University.  His musical accomplishments include leading his own combo from 1986 until 1998, appearing at major festivals and nightclubs around the world, and he has been featured with the bands of Eddie Harris, Ira Sullivan, Von Freeman, Curtis Fuller, Jack DeJohnette and Red Rodney.
