PORTALES – The Eastern New Mexico University dance department is preparing for the student dance concert, "Studio Suite 15."
The concert will be held Oct. 31 through Nov. 3 in the University Theatre Center. The performances will be at 8 p.m. on Oct. 31 through Nov. 2, and at 2 p.m. on Nov. 3.
Eastern's dance department puts this concert on every fall; it incorporates different students' work into one large performance. It is a showcase for senior recitals, something graduating students must do for completion of their BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts). There are two seniors performing their recitals this year: Summer Lasiter and Bryan Hahn.
Other students will also perform. Four students will present dances they choreographed and there will be approximately 40 student dancers performing. There will be a total of 15 dance pieces.
Students began the rehearsal process for the concert at the beginning of the school year. The students have actually been working on their individual pieces for months.
"I am very excited about this year's dance concert," Bryan Hahn said. "It should be a wonderful night for people to come and watch thought-provoking dance and entertainment."
The performance will cost $3 per person at the ticket window beginning one hour prior to the show. No advance ticket sales will be sold.
