Eastern New Mexico University's Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) recently won the New Mexico SHRM competition, held at Mountain View Medical Center in Las Cruces.

In only their second year of competition, the ENMU team – (L-R) Jim Carrigan, Sara Henry and David Rodriguez, with Dr. Lee Weyant – tested their knowledge of human resource management issues against other student chapters from across New Mexico.

Dr. Lee Weyant, advisor for the ENMU team, said, "I'm very proud of their accomplishments. This level of competition shows that ENMU has a strong undergraduate program in Human Resource Management."

The ENMU team will now compete in the regional competition on April 4-5 in Albuquerque, N.M. The regional competition includes schools from California, Utah, Arizona, Hawaii and Colorado. "Regionals will truly be a different level of competition. We will be matched against schools with a history of strong undergraduate human resource programs," said Dr. Weyant.

The HR Game Competition was designed as a friendly competition to prepare students for the Professional Human Resource (PHR) certification exam. This is one of two levels of certification for HR professionals recognized by SHRM.

ENMU SHRM is affiliated with the Southeastern New Mexico Human Resource Association (SENMHRA). For more information about ENMU SHRM, contact Dr. Weyant at 505.562.5352, or Lee.weyant@enmu.edu. Information about SENMHRA is available at www.senmhra.org.
