ENMU Hosting State High School Speech Tournament

PORTALES—Eastern New Mexico University in Portales has been selected to host the 2004 New Mexico State High School Speech Tournament.

The tournament is scheduled for Thursday, Mar. 11, through Saturday, Mar. 13, and will include debate, student congress, interpretative reading and public speaking events. All events will be of high quality entertainment and will also be educational, according to Dr. Anthony Schroeder, professor of communication.

Volunteers are being sought to judge the various events. Approximately 35–45 people are needed each hour. A training session will be held Tuesday, Mar. 9, at 7 p.m. and on Wednesday, Mar. 10, at 7 p.m. in the College of Business, Room 156.

Each competitor will do the same event four times before advancing to elimination rounds and six rounds of debate competition before advancing to elimination rounds.
