PORTALES—Bob Martin, a well-known television reporter, will visit students at Eastern New Mexico University in Portales on Monday, March 8. The public is invited to sit in on any portion of the visit.
A 1979 graduate of ENMU, Martin is a reporter/videographer covering mostly science, water and fires, search and rescue, and military affairs for KRQE-TV in Albuquerque. He also serves as pilot of the station helicopter. He began his career at KBIM-TV in Roswell.
Martin has covered wars in Nicaragua, El Salvador, Afghanistan (Russians), Panama, Gulf War I, Kosovo, Afghanistan (US Invasion), and Gulf War II (embedded with US Army for invasion).
He has also covered stories with New Mexico connections in Antarctica, Egypt, Russia, Japan, China, South America, the Caribbean and Mount Everest. He has won a Rocky Mountain Emmy and PBS "Best in The West" awards for documentary productions.
