PORTALES—Dr. Julia-Rosa Lopez-Emslie, professor of bilingual education at Eastern New Mexico University, has been named as a 2004 recipient of the Governor's Award for Outstanding Women of New Mexico.
The New Mexico Women's Hall of Fame was started in 1986 in conjunction with the Governor's Office. Nominationswere received from all areas of New Mexico and inductees to the Hall ofFame were selected from among the 20 2004 Governor's Award recipients.
Since its inception, only 41women had been previously identified as recipients of this award. Dr.Lopez-Emslie and Ms. Trish Ahrensfield of Albuquerque were inducted inlast Friday's ceremony.
