Oscar Robinson

Oscar Robinson, director of Personnel at Eastern New Mexico University, was recently honored by the ENMU Board of Regents for his years of tireless efforts in getting the U.S. Board of Geographic Names to change the racist name of a hill around Lingo in southeastern Roosevelt County to Buffalo Soldier Hill. During a hot 1877 summer campaign against the Comanche, several of the African-American U.S. Calvary Buffalo Soldiers died. Dr. Phil Shelley, dean of ENMU's Graduate School, also worked with Robinson on getting the name changed from "N_ _ _ _ _ Hill" to Buffalo Soldier Hill.
