PORTALES — Eastern New Mexico Universitypresident Steven Gamble has announced that ENMU will accept collegestudents displaced from their own colleges by Hurricane Katrina. Thestudents will be able to pay in-state tuition and fees, and ENMU willprovide their meal plans if they reside in a campus residence hall.
ENMUwill extend today's late registration deadline through Thursday, Sept.8, to assist the students in enrolling. Faculty and staff will beavailable to advise students.
Mostof the students would be temporarily enrolled in a non-degree status,but would be able to take courses equivalent to the ones at their ownuniversities.

Eastern will also contact its own students from the affected areas to see if they need assistance or counseling.
