Eastern Business Professor Honored by Cannon Air Force Base for War Service

PORTALES—EasternNew Mexico University professor of marketing Dr. Dale Davis wasrecently honored with the Cannon Air Force Base Airman LeadershipSchool "Wall of Heroes."

According to Davis, theJunior Airman group at Cannon's criteria for honoring someone is thatthey have to have combat experience at the officer level. "They arelooking for role models to follow," Davis said.

Atthe presentation Davis spoke for 15 minutes on when he led a rifleplatoon in a rifle company during the Korean War and the leadershiprole that he held.

"I spoke about fire fights and random ambushes specifically," said Davis.

TheJunior Airman class gave the Eastern professor a shadow box with afolded military flag, a small selection of his medals received duringhis time of service, as well as the picture of him being promoted toLt. Col., with a small bronze plaque describing his career.

Davis said that he was truly touched by the honor, but added who he believes the true American heroes are.

"I'm not a hero," said Davis. "Heroes are those individuals who didn't come home."
