PORTALES—Dr. Jean Wozencarft-Ornellas, professor of music at Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, accompanied by Kayla Paulk on the piano, will present a faculty voice recital at 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 20, in Buchanan Hall of the Music Building at ENMU-Portales.
The first half of the program will consist of art songs of Beethoven, Quilter, Puccini and Zanninelli. The second half is called “Descent into Madness,” said Dr. Wozencarft-Ornellas, with works by Erik Satie, Elizabeth Raum, Barber and Menotti that portray women in various stages of craziness or obsession, and ending with a part of the “Mad Scene” from Lucia di Lammermoor.
Admission is free and open to the public.
