ENMU Presenting “To Gillian on her 37th Birthday”

The Department of Theatre and Dance at Eastern New Mexico University in Portales will present "To Gillian on her 37th Birthday” at 7 p.m. nightly from Wednesday, Oct. 3, through Saturday, Oct. 6, in the Eastern New Mexico University Theater Studio. 
The show in the University Theatre Center Studio Theater begins at 7 p.m. each night. General admission is $4.

Directed by Estella Buie, professor of theatre at ENMU, the play is the story of a man who loses his wife in an accident two years earlier; it takes the audience though the beginning of his journey back to life after becoming almost a recluse.

ENMU Presenting Guest Flute Recital

Guest Dr. Carolyn Treybig will present a flute recital at 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 11, in Buchanan Hall of the Music Building at Eastern New Mexico University in Portales. Admission is free and open to the public.

ENMU Hosting Jazz Ensemble Combo Concert

The Department of Music at Eastern New Mexico University in Portales is presenting the Jazz Ensemble/Jazz Combo Concert at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 15, in Buchanan Hall of the Music Building on the Portales campus.

The concert will feature music from over 50 years of jazz, including works of Thelonious Monk, Count Basie, Clifford Brown, Pat Metheny, Gordon Goodwin and a newly composed work for jazz combo by ENMU music education major Delbert Anderson from Kirtland, N.M.

Admission is free and open to the public.

ENMU Presenting Choir Concert on October 18

The Department of Music at Eastern New Mexico University in Portales is presenting the Fall 2007 ENMU Choir Concert “How Can I Keep From Singing" at 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 18, in Buchanan Hall of the Music Building on the Portales campus.

The concert will feature the ENMU Chamber Singers and University Singers, conducted by Jason Paulk. The repertoire will include music and texts about the subject of music. The Chamber Singers will sing three Renaissance motets and one madrigal.  The University Singers will perform multiple selections, including one double choir motet, Cantate Domino by Heinrich Schutz, with Chamber Singers, in which one ensemble will perform from the balcony while the other sings from the stage. The major work of the program is "To Saint Cecilia" by Norman Dello Joio and will feature trumpet professor Michael Ellzey and pianist Kayla Paulk.

ENMU Hosting National Juried Art Show

The Runnels Gallery in the Golden Library at Eastern New Mexico University in Portales will host a National Juried Show from Oct. 19 through Nov. 15.  The exhibit can be viewed Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from noon to midnight.  A reception will be held on Oct 19 from 5 to 7 p.m.

The exhibit is free and open to the public.
