COMPARING STUDENT SATISFACTION INVENTORY
WITH
INSTITUTIONAL PRIORITIES SURVEY

In the last edition of the DATAWave, results of the Institutional Priorities Survey (IPS) were reported. The IPS asks questions identical to the Student Satisfaction Inventory (SSI) which was administered to Eastern students in the Spring of 1997. Comparing the results of both these surveys provides the opportunity to examine how employees and students are similar or how they may differ in what they believe is important for the campus climate.

In reviewing the results you will see, for example, that employees found most areas to be of more importance than the student body. However, the students, in some areas, were more satisfied with the level of services than were the employees. For example, in the areas of recruitment, financial aid, and registration effectiveness, you will see that students scored these areas relatively higher than did employees. As we can suspect that students are a better measure of the service in these areas, this may indicate that employees are not as aware of the program changes in these areas. A similar disconnect might be observed in the area of safety and security, which employees measured much higher than did students.

Anyone desiring additional information regarding the results of the IPS and SSI may contact Dr. Alec Testa at extension 2315 or email:  Alec.Testa@enmu.edu.
