Our career and technical education Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences (BAAS) concentration is designed to prepare career and technical education instructors and trainers to teach in secondary schools, community and technical colleges, trade and technical institutes, and in business and industry settings. The CTE program is 100% online.

If you have an Associate of Applied Arts and Sciences (AAS) with a technical or vocational major from a Council for Higher Education (CHEA)-recognized organization, you can apply the education experience you already have toward your bachelor's degree. An applied arts and sciences major's time frame for degree completion varies with the individual student, but most complete the BAAS program in two years. Our BAAS program gives you credit for your past academic experience.

Note: This concentration does not meet the requirements for New Mexico Secondary 7-12 Vocational Licensure.

Do I Qualify for This BAAS Program?

Our Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences, Concentration in Career and Technical Education will help you use your prior academic experience to complete your bachelor's degree.

You can enter our BAAS Program to earn your first bachelor's degree. To qualify you must have one of the following:

  1. An Associate of Applied Arts and Sciences (AAS) degree from an institution with accreditation recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
  2. Have earned at least 30 credit hours in a career-technical related discipline from an institution with accreditation recognized by the CHEA.

Learning Format for CTE Concentration

Our BAAS, Concentration in Career and Technology Education is designed to be completed 100% online, with students completing assignments, readings, tests and projects throughout the semester. Because our class lectures are recorded with Mediasite, you'll be able to attend class when it's convenient for you, rather than having to sit in front of your computer at a specific time. ENMU uses Mediasite, Canvas and Adobe Collaborate so you'll have plenty of opportunity to connect with your professor and other students taking the same classes.

As a career and technology education student, we are committed to helping you complete your degree as efficiently as possible. Throughout the program, we offer advising via phone or email and are always excited when students reach out to us.

Academic Help and Resources for Career and Technical Education

We want to make sure you get the support you need. We offer flexible tutoring services, including the ENMU Writing Center which is available to help you improve your writing and help you clearly communicate for written, school-related projects and assignments.

We also have online databases, journal articles, and eBooks accessible through the Golden Library. ENMU librarians are available virtually, via phone and email to provide assistance, so you'll always have the help you need to take advantage of library resources.

When you receive a BAAS degree with a career and technical education concentration, you can look forward to an enhanced career in your field. BAAS Concentration: Career and Technical Education

The BAAS program requires you to complete 120 hours to earn your bachelor's degree. Within those 120 hours, you must complete General Education Requirements, a primary concentration and a secondary concentration.

This concentration does not meet requirements for New Mexico Secondary 7-12 vocational licensure. If you want this license and can complete CTED 481 Supervised Classroom Internship, you should pursue the Bachelor of Career and Technical Education (BCTE).
