Whether you're interested in improving your Spanish or teaching Spanish, a degree in Spanish with a secondary licensure will help you meet your goals. Beyond reading and writing in Spanish, the courses for this program provide background knowledge in Spanish culture and literature. The education classes will also provide you with a foundation in teaching. The time frame for degree completion varies with each student, but you can reasonably complete this degree in four years.

Eastern New Mexico University is committed to helping you finance your education. In addition to grants and loans offered University-wide, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences offers 37 scholarships for current students. Our tuition is among one of the lowest in the nation, according to USA Today (2014), allowing you to get a quality education at ENMU, without the huge pricetag. Additionally, many ENMU students work part-time jobs to help finance their education.
Career Opportunities
Many people assume that Spanish Majors can only look forward to careers in education. However, being bilingual opens opportunities in almost any career field, especially in the justice system, social work, and the medical field. Many of our Spanish majors choose to double major, so they can increase their job opportunities. Often salaries are higher for those who are bilingual. Additionally, some Spanish majors seek careers as translators. In addition to advisors within the department, Career Services offers free job placement assistance to all students.
