Instructional Resource Center

The Instructional Resource Center (IRC) is the Regional Evaluation Center for New Mexico Department of Education. It is a depository of textbooks and teaching materials adopted by the New Mexico Board of Education for use in New Mexico public schools.

IRC serves

  • School districts in eastern New Mexico
  • Students in teacher training programs
  • Home schoolers

IRC Collection

  • arranged by subject area and year of adoption
  • elementary and secondary texts
  • teacher and curriculum guides, media kits and unit plans
  • IRC materials are kept in the collection until superceded by new textbook adoption, usually six years
  • materials are listed in the online catalog
  • checked out at the Circulation Desk on the main floor of the library.

The IRC is supervised by a professional librarian, Vickie Linthicum, and a full-time staff member, Maria Terrazas. Student assistants, several of whom are working towards degrees in Education, also work in the IRC. Phone 505.562.2258 for additional information.
