Step 1: To identify your SIC code go to SIC Codes and enter your industry keyword, e.g., athletic shoes, computers, airlines, etc., in the "Search Keyword" box. Click on any links to find the one that best describes your company's business and record your 4-digit SIC code. You may also be able to "google" it, i.e., <Nike SIC Code>. To identify your NAICS code or convert your SIC to a NAICS go to NAICS; NAICS codes are needed to use the RMA book and the online RMA database.
Step 2: To locate annual reports for your company, go to the company web page (www.companyname.com) and click on "Investors" or "Investor Info" or "About Us." There should be a link for Annual Report. Print the pertinent data and record your company’s ticker symbols for later use.
Step 3: Use your NAICS code to look up the industrial ratios for your industry
in the RMA book (in the library only), or use the RMA online database. Library database links do not always work within Blackboard, so it is best to go directly to the library home page to access the RMA and other databases.
Important: the RMA online database allows only one user at a time. If
you are unable to get on, wait 10 minutes and try again. Remember to log
out when you are done, so others can use it. Enter your NAICS code. Click the six FRB tabs
at the top of the chart to display and print your data.

Step 4: For bond ratings, go to Moody's and register with the site. Enter your own username, and they will send a password to your email address within minutes of registering. Return to the home page and logon with your Moody’s username and password. Go to “Search by Ticker Symbol” and enter your ticker symbol. Click on company name link(s) and print any helpful information that is free of charge. Fitch also offers limited free bond information. You will need to register with them, as well. Enter your ticker symbol in the Search box and click any links that don't charge a fee.
Step 5: For historical stock prices and other helpful reports, go to Yahoo Finance. Enter ticker symbol in the Get Quotes box. Click on Historical Prices, under Summary in the left-hand sidebar, and enter your dates.
Step 6: The Business Source Complete, Business and Company Resource Center and the Wall Street Journal Online databases can provide you with macroeconomic events information. Go to the library home page and click the Periodical Databases link; then click the letter that begins the name of the database and the database name link.
