What is a degree plan checklist checklist?
It is a list of required courses for the degree and major you choose. The degree plan checklist spells out the catalog requirements for your major. It includes general education requirements as well as courses for your major and minor.
Why do I need one?
A degree plan checklist guides you through specific courses required for your major. Making your specific degree plan checklist is part of the process of declaring a major. Your classes are entered into a plan for your chosen major and areas of emphasis.
Your advisor is assigned when your degree plan checklist is completed. You are required to meet with your advisor when you register for classes, but you can meet with them any time you have questions about your degree. Your advisor will help you with any special circumstances related to your degree plan checklist, such as substituting classes.
Who is required to have a degree plan checklist?
ENMU sophomores and new transfer students who have earned 45 or more hours must file a degree plan checklist.
All graduate students must have a degree plan checklist by the end of the first semester of graduate enrollment. The graduate school completes these plans.
I am a transfer student, how do I know if my classes will transfer toward my ENMU degree?
Research your options: Print out all degree plan checklists that may interest you (www.enmu.edu/degreeplan). Fill in your classes. Write down all questions you may have to ask your advisor.
When do I update my degree plan checklist?
You need to update your degree plan checklist each semester before you see your faculty advisor. Print your ENMU transcript and fill in the classes you have completed and that are in process.
How do I create a degree plan checklist?
If you are an undergradute, complete the undergraduate degree plan checklist request, call 575.562.2780 or stop by Student Academic Services, Room 282, to fill out a paper form.
If you are a graduate student, make an appointment with your graduate program coordinator to complete a degree plan checklist. Please note that graduate students must submit a degree plan checklist signed by all advisory committee members, the graduate coordinator and the student before the end of the first semester to continue enrollment at ENMU.
What are upper-division hours?
These are classes numbered 300 or higher. You must complete at least 40 upper-division hours. (Business degrees require 50 hours.) Check your degree plan to verify the upper-division requirement for your major. Upper-division requirements are listed on your degree plan checklist along with the total number of hours required.
