College of BusinessThe College of Business offers a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with several majors or emphases. The available majors are Accounting, Agricultural Business, Business Administration, Business Education, Marketing Education and Computer Information Systems. Within the Business Administration major, students can elect to complete an emphasis is Applied Economics and Finance, Management or Marketing, although no emphasis is required. The COB also offers a Master in Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree. Students complete 33 hours beyond the Common Professional Component (C.P.C.) Courses within the College of Business are delivered in one of four formats: face-to-face, instructional television/video conferencing (ITV/VC), online and web enhanced/hybrid. All face-to-face classes are taught on the Portales campus. ITV/VC classes generally originate from the classroom in Portales with on-site students and broadcast to our remote sites at Cannon Air Force Base, Clovis Community College, New Mexico Junior College (Hobbs), ENMU-Roswell, and ENMU-Ruidoso. Select courses are also broadcast to Carlsbad (New Mexico State University at Carlsbad), Artesia (ENMU-Roswell Artesia Education Center) and San Juan College (Farmington). Online classes and web enhanced/hybrid courses utilize WebCT as the primary delivery platform. The COB has programs in two majors, Accounting and Business Administration (no emphasis), such that a student at an ITV/VC remote site can complete the entire degree program without having to a take face-to-face class on the Portales campus. These programs are completed by the student taking lower level classes from a local community college and the upper level courses through ITV/VC and online formats. The M.B.A. program also has been designed such that a student can complete all requirements without having to take any classes in residence on the Portales campus. The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools has approved the delivery of the B.B.A. and M.B.A. programs for 100% distance delivery. |
