Greetings from Portales, New Mexico and the College of Education and Technology at Eastern New Mexico University (ENMU)!

Eastern epitomizes a regional comprehensive university centered on the preparation of teachers, administrators and counselors. The University has great liberal arts and education programs that provide highly qualified teachers in subject areas and appropriate pedagogies for student learning. We also help our students develop other critical skills in student activities, musical and artistic performances, athletics or recreation. I refer to the path that a College of Education and Technology (CET) student takes as A Learning Journey ... for an Empowered Voice on the High Plains of the Southwest.

A Learning Journey refers to the college’s conceptual framework (TREC) that is focused on the integrated nature of Theory, Research, Effective Practices and Commitment to the education profession.

... for an Empowered Voice addresses the insight that each learner gains through self-actualization and the ability to express views proactively in society.

... on the High Plains of the Southwest addresses the rich diverse cultures, geography, climate, economic development, pioneering spirit, agricultural work ethic and area history that have a profound effect on our educational partners.
