School Supply Drive for Bethel Orphanage
Location: Hispanic Affairs Office
Date: Now to March 8
Time: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Hispanic Affairs has taken the lead in gathering school supplies for the Bethel Orphanage, located in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. The donations can vary in different supplies: Crayons, pencils, pens, scissors, glues, erasers, stick glue, calculators, notebooks and colored pencils. The drop off box is located in The Alley by the Hispanic Affair's door. All the donations will be delivered during Spring Break

Dr. Celia Lopez-Chavez, Visiting Assistant Professor/ General Honors Programs, at UNM will discuss over her personal and academic perspective as Hispanic woman in Argentina and the challenges that she had to overcome living in different Spanish speaking countries and ending in New Mexico. This event is a Luncheon and a RSVP is required please contact the office by email or phone call.

Lady in Blue Puppet Show
Location: Becky Sharp College of Business

This event is scheduled as part of Women's History Month. In 1620, Lady Blue, a Spanish nun, writer and mystic, bilocated to New Mexico without ever leaving her cloistered convent in Agreda, Spain. Confronted twice by the Inquisition, she played an important role in the creation of Hispanic New Mexico. Co-sponsor with New Mexico Humanities.

Cesar E. Chavez Blood Drive Challenge

National Cesar E. Chavez Blood Drive Challenge, which celebrates Cesar E. Chavez's Legacy as an American civic leader by engaging students in health education, health professions, civic engagement and saving lives. The donations center (buses) will be located in front of the Campus Union Building; Appointments can be set up on United Blood Services: http://www.unitedbloodservices.org/
