Constitution of N.A.T.I.V.E Organization At Eastern New Mexico University

 

Mission Statement:

The Mission of our N.A.T.I.V.E organization is to provide and promote unity and awareness of various Native American cultures. We encourage leadership, harmony, and respect among Native and Non-Native Americans. We confront current socioeconomic, political, and ecological issues with strength and knowledge of our Native American heritage.

Membership Eligibility:

  1. There will be no membership dues collected
  2. Active-All individuals Native or Non-Native American enrolled at Eastern New Mexico University are eligible for active membership in the N.A.T.I.V.E. organization.
  3. Honorary-All Eastern New Mexico University alumni of Native and Non-Native American descent are eligible to be honorary members of the N.A.T.I.V.E. organization.

Officers:

The officers of the N.A.T.I.V.E. organization shall consist of the following who are duly elected: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Web Officer and Faculty Sponsor. Officer Elections will be held at the beginning of the fall semester and offices will be held for an entire school year. Eligibility for office is limited to active members of the club.

Officer Duties:

President:

It shall be the duty of the President to preside at all organizations meetings, call to order each meeting, and announce business before the members. The president shall preserve order and decorum, decide all questions in order, practice the policy of the justice and rights of individuals for equal opportunity, and exercise complete control of all meetings.

Vice-President:

In the absence or by request of the President, the Vice President will assume all duties and responsibility of the President.

Secretary/Web Officer:

It shall be the duty of the Secretary to keep an accurate record of the organization’s functions, including meetings and activities. The Secretary will also report the minutes from previous meetings and shall be responsible for informing the members of the organization functions. The Secretary shall have custody of all the organization’s documents. It shall be the duty to also be web officer to help establish and maintain the oranization's university web page.  The office will update the page regularly and abide by the rules regarding the ENMU web policy. 

Faculty Sponsor/Treasurer:

It shall be the duty of the Treasurer to maintain a record of financial expenses and profits of the organization. At member meetings, he/she will present an oral financial report. At officers meetings, he/she will present a written financial report. It shall be the duty to also be Treasurer and maintain a record of financial expenses and profits of the organization. In the event of resignation, disability, removal from office or death of the officer, an election will be held immediately to fill the vacancy.

Meetings:

Meetings will be held every other week, unless informed otherwise.
