What are core curriculum or general education classes?

These are the basic classes ENMU students take as a foundation of their college work. To find out more, please contact the records clerk in your college of your major or refer to our online catalogs.

What is the class attendance policy?

Instructors set their own class attendance policies, but students are expected to attend all classes.

Can I do an internship or cooperative?

Yes. ENMU offers co-ops through Career Services.

How many courses do I have to take to have a full load?

To be considered a full-time student for scholarships and financial aid, you need to take 12-18 credit hours per semester.

When do I have to declare a major?

You need to declare a major by the time you've earned 30 credit hours.

Can I get help from a tutor?

Yes. You can make an appointment with Tutoring Services.

Do I have to take physical education classes? Can they be waived?

ENMU requires physical education classes. They can be waived only in special cases for physical handicaps and serious medical problems.

How long does it take to graduate?

On average, it takes four to five years to graduate from ENMU with a bachelor's degree.

How many ENMU students are accepted to graduate schools?

Many ENMU students go on to earn master's degrees here or pursue advanced degrees at other universities. The acceptance rate is about 80 percent for pre-med students from ENMU. About five of six students majoring in biological sciences are accepted to graduate school.

Can I take summer classes?

Eastern offers three school sessions during the summer.

How long are the holiday and term breaks?

Winter Break: roughly four weeks
Spring Break: one week
Holiday breaks are usually for the day before the holiday and through the weekend immediately following.
