Beginning In-State Freshmen Scholarships

Application priority deadline is Aug. 1 for fall and Jan. 3 for spring except for the Green and Silver Presidential Scholarship which is March 6.

Freshman Academic Scholarship
Amount: $4,860-$7,660 per academic year
Requirements:
  • Minimum score of 20 on ACT or 940 on SAT (national test)
Continuation:
  • Students with ACT scores of 20-21 or SAT scores of 940-1019 may receive the scholarship for the fall and spring semesters of the freshman year if they complete 15 hours each semester with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
  • Students with ACT scores of 22 and above or SAT scores of 1020 and above may renew for a total of eight consecutive semesters if the following requirements are met: First year (fall/spring semesters): Complete 15 hours per semester with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Second and subsequent years: Complete 15 hours per semester with a minimum 3.2 GPA. The first semesters GPA is based on your first semester at Eastern. Thereafter, your cumulative GPA (all semesters including dual/concurrent enrollment and other schools) will be used to determine scholarship continuation.
  • Students must meet eligibility requirements/continuation for the New Mexico Legislative Lottery Scholarship. Students who have attended a non-accredited high school or homeschool are required to submit New Mexico General Education Development scores to meet NM Lottery/Federal Financial Aid requirements. Tuition portion of this award is funded by the NM Lottery Legislative Scholarship and ENMU Foundation Starter Scholarship. After the initial semester, the tuition portion will be covered with the amount authorized by the NM State Legislature for the Lottery Scholarship.
Note: Students may take 3 of the 15 hours required for continuation from the Roswell or Ruidoso campus with the remaining hours taken from the Portales campus.
 
ENMU Foundation Starter Scholarship
Amount: Tuition for the first semester
Requirements:
  • N.M. resident
  • 2.5 cumulative GPA or 20 ACT or 940 SAT score (national test)
  • N.M. high school graduate or N.M. GED recipient in the semester preceding the first semester of attendance
Note: Students who have attended a non-accredited high school or homeschool are required to submit New Mexico General Education Development scores to meet NM Lottery/Federal Financial Aid requirements and will be awarded based on national ACT/SAT scores.
 
New Mexico Lottery Success Scholarship
Amount: To be authorized by the NM State Legislature by June 1 of each year
Requirements:
  • Be a New Mexico resident
  • Graduate from a New Mexico public high school, an accredited private high school recognized by the Public Education Department, or have obtained a New Mexico GED
  • Enroll full-time at an eligible New Mexico public college or university in the first regular semester immediately following high school graduation or obtaining a GED
  • Obtain and maintain at least a 2.5 GPA
Continuation:
  • Students who complete at least 15 hours with a minimum 2.5 GPA each semester are eligible to receive the scholarship for up to eight semesters if funding is available.

New Mexico Scholar Scholarship
Amount: Tuition and fees plus $700 per academic year, excluding lab, course and housing fees
Requirements:
  • N.M. resident
  • Graduated in top 5 percent of high school class or scored 25 or higher on the ACT (national test) or 1130 or higher on the SAT
  • Family income of $30,000 or less; $40,000 or less if more than one family member is a student in postsecondary education
Continuation:
  • Students who complete at least 12 hours with a 3.0 GPA each semester are eligible to receive the scholarship for up to eight semesters or until receipt of degree.
Note: Students who receive the New Mexico Scholar are not eligible for the ENMU Foundation Starter or New Mexico Lottery Success scholarships.
 
Green and Silver Presidential Scholarship
Amount: tuition, fees and residence hall charges plus $1,000 per academic year (more information)
Requirements:
  • New Mexico resident
  • New Mexico high school graduate in the semester preceding the first semester of attendance
  • 3.0 GPA and ACT composite of 27 (1210 SAT Critical Reading and Math)
  • 3.5 GPA and ACT composite of 25 (1130 SAT Critical Reading and Math)
Continuation:
  • Students who have been selected may receive the scholarship for a total of eight consecutive semesters if the following requirements are met: First year (fall/spring semesters): Successfully complete 15 hours per semester with a 3.0 GPA. Second and subsequent years: Successfully complete 15 hours per semester with a 3.2 GPA.
  • The first semesters GPA is based on your first semester at Eastern. Thereafter, your cumulative GPA (all semesters including dual/concurrent enrollment and other schools) will be used to determine scholarship continuation.
  • Students must meet eligibility requirements/continuation for the NM Legislative Lottery Scholarship. Tuition portion covered by the ENMU Foundation Starter Scholarship for the first semester. After the initial semester, the tuition portion will be covered with the amount authorized by the NM State Legislature for the Lottery Scholarship and Eastern.
  • Only the double room rate will be applied to the students’ account who are living in University managed housing (Curry, Eddy or Guadalupe – traditional residence halls). West Campus Apartments and San Juan Village does not apply.
