Transfer Scholarships

Application priority deadline is Aug. 1 for fall and Jan. 3 for spring. Fill out an application to be considered for these scholarships. (The Texas 135-Mile Waiver does not require an application.)

Transfer Academic Scholarship (In-State and Out-of-State)

Amount: $200–$700 per academic year


Requirements:
  • 3.5 cumulative college GPA
Continuation:
  • Students who successfully complete at least 15 hours each semester with a 3.2 cumulative GPA or higher are eligible to receive the scholarship for up to seven consecutive semesters, depending on award.
 
Competitive Waiver/Transfer
Amount: Waives the difference between in-state and out-of-state tuition (Colorado Scholar and Texas 135-Mile scholarships awarded separately.)

Requirements:
  • 3.5 cumulative college GPA; or
  • 3.0 cumulative high school GPA and a 23 ACT or 1060 SAT score (national test); or
  • 3.5 cumulative high school GPA and a 20 ACT or 940 SAT score (national test)
Continuation:
  • Students who complete 24 hours per years with a 2.5 cumulative GPA or higher are eligible to receive the scholarship for up to seven consecutive semesters or receipt of degree.
 
Colorado Scholar Tuition Waiver Transfer
Amount: Waives the difference between in-state and out-of-state tuition each semester
Requirements:
  • Colorado resident
  • 2.5 cumulative college GPA
Continuation:
  • Students who complete at least 15 hours each semester with a 3.2 cumulative GPA or higher are eligible to receive the scholarship for up to four consecutive semesters or until receipt of degree.

Texas 135-Mile Tuition Waiver
Amount: Waives the difference between in-state and out-of-state tuition each semester

Requirements:
  • Texas resident living within 135 miles of Portales
Note: No application is required. You may qualify for a Transfer Academic Scholarship.


Phi Theta Kappa Tuition Competition Scholarship
Amount: In-state: $450 per semester; Out-of-state: $450 per semester, plus a waiver of the difference between in-state and out-of-state tuition

Requirements:
  • Phi Theta Kappa member
  • 3.5 cumulative college GPA
  • Associate degree or minimum of 60 hours of college credit
Continuation:
  • Students who complete at least 15 hours each semester with a 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher are eligible to receive the scholarship for up to four consecutive semesters or until receipt of degree.
    Note:
      Proof of Phi Theta Kappa membership required. Limited scholarships given.
