Cindy DuBoisMajor: Business administration
Cindy DuBois uses her ENMU business degree for an unusual mission: acquiring weapons systems for the Naval Air Systems Command. The 1991 business administration and human resources management graduate is T-45 deputy assistant program manager for logistics. “We acquire air weapon systems, like the F/A-18 aircraft or the Harpoon missile, for the Navy,” she says. “The T-45 is the carrier-capable jet used to train pilots before they move up to other jets.” Raised in Alaska, Cindy spent 18 years working for police, fire and EMS departments before divorcing at 40 and moving to Ruidoso, where she could attend a university full-time. She soon found her place in ENMU’s College of Business, where her professors challenged her. “The College of Business curriculum was tough, but I was persistent,” she says. “While pushing myself and participating in the various activities, I found never-ending support from the professors, and I still do!” She says she developed confidence at ENMU that helped her sail through master’s coursework and succeed in her current job, where she teams with aerospace engineers, retired Air Force colonels, Naval Academy graduates, defense industry partners and program managers. She also works with ENMU graduates Amy S. (Braskamp) Behrman, Denise A. Ebentheuer and Deborah L. Edgmon. “It surprises me how much I draw on every single experience from Eastern’s COB. I needed each and every course and all of the well-intentioned turmoil.” |
