Department of Educational Studies

The Department of Educational Studies offers undergraduate and graduate courses in the areas of education foundations, secondary education and special education, and graduate courses in the areas of counseling and education administration.

If you are pursuing an undergraduate degree in education with majors in elementary and special education, you'll complete your special education requirements through courses taught by this department's faculty. If you are in an approved major seeking secondary teaching licensure, you'll want to choose the secondary education minor (endorsement area) available through this department. The coursework for the secondary education endorsement area is also used in large part by students in approved majors seeking K-12 teaching licensure. Undergraduate coursework for these programs is offered primarily on-campus, but a limited number of courses may be available at ENMU-Roswell or online as well.

ENMU's Master of Education provides a major in education with emphases in education administration, secondary education, or special of education. Our Master of Special Education provides a major in special education with emphases available in early childhood special education, education administration, general special educationgifted education pedagogy, school counseling, secondary education and special education pedagogy. Students who do not hold a teaching license or who desire additional licensure may pursue secondary or special education teaching licensure through the department's alternative licensure program.
