Application Process For Veterans and Transfer of Eligibility Students

Our VA Certifying Official is the point of contact on campus for all veteran issues. We work hard to help you get the education you deserve and plan for the future you want. Applying to ENMU is free! Our admissions process for veterans consists of the following steps:

  • Submit an ENMU admission application – fill out our online application, or download an application and mail it to us.
  • Official copies of transcripts from all colleges and universities you have attended previously (If you are expecting military transcripts also be sure to request them as soon as possible because sometimes it can take a while to receive them).
  • Complete your FAFSA application (Eastern's FAFSA school code is 002651).
  • For VA Chapter Benefits (35, 33, 31, 30, 1606), please visit enmu.edu/GIBill or call 575.562.2175 for more information.

Application Process for Active Duty and Dependents

The program is designed to provide educational opportunities to you if you are completing your college degree over the course of your military activity and across multiple postings. ENMU will assist you and your adult family members to complete your college degrees no matter where you move during your military career.

Coming to Eastern is easy! Best of all, applying to ENMU is free! Our admissions process for active duty military and their dependents consists of the following steps:

  • Submit an ENMU admission application – fill out our online application, or download an application and mail it to us (be sure to indicate your military status on the application).
  • If you are stationed in New Mexico, fill out the Military Waiver form (should be signed by your squadron commander).
  • Provide official copies of transcripts from all colleges and universities you have attended previously (If you are expecting military transcripts also be sure to request them as soon as possible because sometimes it can take a while to receive them).
    • If you have completed less than 30 college credits, you will also need to submit an official copy of your high school transcript or GED certificate and ACT or SAT scores.
  • Complete your FAFSA application (Eastern's FAFSA school code is 002651).

Tuition Assistance

Tuition Assistance is a benefit paid to eligible, active duty members of the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force and Coast Guard. Congress has given each service the ability to pay up to 100% for the tuition expenses (including fees) of its members. Each service has its own criteria for eligibility, obligated service, application process and restrictions. This money is usually paid directly to the institution. If you plan on using tuition assistance, you'll need to bring a copy of your approved tuition assistance documentation to the ENMU Office of Student Accounts, Administration Building (AD), Room 114, so it can be applied to your account. You can also FAX your documentation to 575.562.2428 or mail to:
