Advising Checklist

How do I register if I have declared my major?

    1. Get a copy of your most recent degree plan. Don't have it?
      • CET, COB and CFA majors: Visit your dean’s office
      • CLAS majors: Visit your department's office.
    2. Print out your current transcript.
    3. Have you repeated any courses? If you have, please check with the Registrar's office about a "repeat course form" to correct your transcript.
    4. Make a list of classes you want to take this semester. Check the course schedule.
    5. Use your transcript and degree plan to enter all the classes you have completed or are taking since your degree plan was updated.
    6. Check the course schedule for classes that you need for your degree. Write down the CRN numbers for your chosen classes.
    7. Check your student records for any holds.
    8. Make an appointment with your advisor. Who is your advisor? Your advisor is listed on your degree plan. You can also go to Student and Financial Aid then click Student Records, then View Student Information. If you still don't know, ask your department chair or department secretary.
    9. Meet with your advisor. Take your degree plan, transcript, and list of classes.
    10. Register online

How do I register if I have not declared my major?

    1. Print out your current transcript.
    2. Fill out the correct advising worksheet for your potential degree using your transcript. Include all classes you are taking or have completed. If you enrolled at ENMU before Fall 2007, use a 05-07 worksheet.  If you enrolled for the first time in Fall 2007, use the 07-09 worksheet appropriate to your future major.
    3. Make a list of classes you want to take this fall or summer. Check the course schedule.
    4. Check your student records for any holds.
    5. Meet with an advisor in the Advising Center in Student Academic Services, Room 232. Call 575.562.2338 to make an appointment.
    6. Register for classes with your advisor.
