Job Summary: The Bridger-Teton National Forest will soon be filling a GS-401/9/11 NEPA Coordinator position serving both the Greys River and Jackson Ranger Districts as a zoned employee. The position works with district interdisciplinary teams to develop, write and publish environmental documents. It is a permanent fulltime position, and may be stationed in either Afton or Jackson, Wyoming. Following is a brief sketch of the position, the Forest, the District, and both communities.

Qualifications: This position resides on a Ranger district and assists all departments in the development of environmental documents. The incumbent maintains the quarterly schedule of proposed actions for the districts and writes project initiation letters for the District Ranger signature. This position works directly with interdisciplinary teams to lead resource specialists through the NEPA process, determine elements for analysis, write documents (CE,EA,EIS), solicit public distribution and collaboration, review public comments, publish final documents and decisions, compile appeal and litigation files and respond to Freedom of Information Act requests. Projects may include timber, silviculture, fuels, roads and trails, recreation, special uses, range, minerals, fish and wildlife, watershed restoration and facilities. Close coordination with specialists to assure current resource concerns are addressed is paramount. The ability to function independently without close supervision and maintain good working relationships is important.

Duties: The duties of this position require that the employee occaisionally engage in field work during all seasons of the year. The incumbent wil encounter temperature extremes , rough walking surfaces, steep terrain, rain, wind and snow.
