Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED; 18 years of age or older; A Child Development Credential (CDA) in infant/toddler care; Able to complete required 45 hour training course or approved 3 credit hour ECE course within 6 months of employment; obtain clearance through NM Licensing Bureau for employment; able to travel out of town occassionally and attend night meetings; valid NM driver's license and clear driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or an Associates' degree and course work equivalent to a major relating to early childhood education with experience teaching infant/toddler age children; One year work experience in an early childhood growth and devlopment setting; One year supervisory experience.
Duties: The Early Head Start Teacher is responsible for supervision and management of a classroom in accordance with policies, procedures, regulations, and guidelines. Primary duties include daily classroom operation, supervision of assigned staff and volunteers, maintenance of appropriate learning environment, rapport with parents, and utilization of available resources. When assigned, the Early Head Start Teacher serves as second in command and assumes complete responsibility for the center in the absence of the Site Supervisor.
