Job Summary: To provide expressive and voice interpreting for hearing impaired students in special education.

Qualifications: Bachelors Degree from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certification by the National Registry for Interpreters for the Deaf.

Duties: Provides staff training in American Sign Language and serves as consultant to teachers and school staff members on topics concerning educational interpreting.
Provide expressive and voice interpreting for Hearing Impaired Students in classes across the district.
Provide tutoring and/or note taking services for Hearing Impaired students when necessary and when interpreting es not needed.
Participate in educational team meetings, including the development and review of progress on the individual educational plan, providing insight on the success of communication strategies.
Provide interpreting for extracurricular activities and parent meetings when necessary.
Assist in providing orientations to deafnes to hearing students and staff.
Provides informatin, support and counseling to parents and families of Hearing Impaired children when appropriate.
Maintains professional growth through participation in in-service and staff develpment activities, as appropriate.
Makes home visits as appropriate.
Complies with local, state and federal regulations.
Agrees to fulfill performance responsibilites in location(s) assigned.
Performs other duties as assigned.
