Job Summary: Carbon County School District #1, Rawlins, Wyoming, is accepting applications for a superintendent of schools. The successful candidate should possess high moral character and have demonstrated successful teaching experience and management and/or administrative abilities in order to inspire and lead a school district that expects and supports a comprehensive educational program for its students. Salary will be not less than $130,000, depending on qualifications and includes a comprehensive benefits package.
Rawlins, the county seat of Carbon County, is located on the continental divide in south central Wyoming. The city has a population of around 9,200 citizens. The community is filled with western history. The Carbon County Higer Education Center provides higher education classes and vocational training programs. Oil and gas exploration and production, ranching, railroad service and Wyoming state government are the major employers. The community has a county recreation center and several parks for family enjoyment. The community offers fresh, clean air and the joys of living in a small town. Opportunities for hiking, hunting, world class trout fishing, boating, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, golfing, and other recreational endeavors are abundant.
Carbon County School District #1 offeres a comprehensive educational program for 1,875 students in grades kindergarten through 12. The district operates 7 schools in four attendance areas: Bairoil Elementary (K-5) has an enrollment of 6 students and is located in Bairoil which is 37 miles north of Rawlins; Sinclair Elementary (K-5) has an enrollment of 41 students and is located in Sinclair which is 6 miles east of Rawlins; and Little Snake River Valley School (K-12) has an enrollment of 170 students and is located in Baggs which is 77 miles southwest of Rawlins. Six Schools are located in Rawlins; Rawlins Elementary School (K-5) has an enrollment of 808 students, Rawlins Middle School (6-8) has an enrollment of 393 students, Rawlins High School (9-12) has an enrollement of 425 students and Cooperative High School (9-12) has an enrollment of 32 students.
