Summer Youth Program Assistant Supervisor - City of Santa Fe

Job Summary: To assist with supervision and provision of recreational, instructional and educational programs and activities for children ages 6-12 throughout the Summer Youth Program.

Qualifications: Education and Experience
Must be sixteen years of age or older and six months experience in recreation and/or education.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Considerable knowledge of a variety of arts and crafts and/or sports activities; of accepted recreation policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
Considerable skill in supervisory techniques.
Ability to organize and conduct a variety of arts and crafts amd sports activities; to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the general public.
Special Qualifications
Must successfully pass background investigation. Nandatory CPR and First Aide Training will be provided by the City of Santa Fe upon hiring.
Work Environment
Work is performed inside or outdoors at a program site. Subject to cuts, scrapes, bruises, broken bones, germs, bacteria, viruses, and dust. Requires light physical exertion, including sitting, walking, standing, bending, twisting, squatting, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and climbing. Must be able to lift 25 pouonds. Irregular work hours.

Duties: Assists in enforcing with programs, rules and regulations among participants to prevent injuries to participants and damage to program sites and program equipment.
Instructs and participates in a variety of arts and crafts classes, sporting activities and events.
Assists in the distribution of food and snacks to the participants.
Ensures all recreation equipment is accounted for and repairs damaged equipment if possible.
Participates in cleaning of program sites recreational facilities and equipment and ensures centers are secure at close of each operating day.
Supervises the youth participants to and from field trips and performs related duties assigned.
Attends meetings and trainings are required.
Assists supervisors in the daily planning and coordination of various recreational, instructional, and educational programs and activities for children ages 6-12.
Interacts with children and youth with physical and/or mental disabilities as needed on a daily basis.
Assists supervisors with staff evalutions.
