Job Summary: Under direction of the Dean for Academic Services this position performs advanced analysis, design, technical coding, and database management tasks to resolve complex application database issues. The Database Administrator is responsible for providing technical support for the database environment including overseeing the development and organization of the databases, assessment and implementation of new technologies.

Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications
*A Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or related field from an accredited college or university.
*Three (3) years SQL Server DBA experience.
*Strong experience in managing and maintaining SQL Server 2008R2 database environments.
*Strong understanding of backup and recovery plans, re-index operations, update statistics, and other system commands/objects such as DBCC and DMVs.
*Strong experience in clustered SQL environments.
*Experience building, maintaining and patching SQL Server stand-alone and clustered environments.
*Experience setting up Disaster Recovery environments including log shipping and database mirroring technologies.
*Experience with database migration between various environments (production, QA, staging).
*Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database issues such as connectivity, security, and other related system issues such as CPU, memory, I/O, disk space and other resource contention.
*Experience in Performance Tuning, Query Optimization, Blocking and deadlocking analysis, as well as familiarity using Performance Monitor, SQL Profiler and other related monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
*Solid experience automating operational tasks with Powershell.
*Strong knowledge of SQL database development: tables, indexes, views, stored procedures, triggers, constraints, etc.

Preferred Qualifications
*Microsoft certification.
*Five (5) plus years SQL Server DBA experience.
*Experience with SQL Server BI components such as Analysis Services, Reporting Services, and Integration Services.
*Solid acquaintance with windows server, security, and storage components.
*Experience in a college or university setting.

Duties: *Establish and implement new functional-based database systems as identified and required.
*Establish database roles and issue permissions.
*Monitor user access to database to provide secure environment.
*Assist with the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of an institutional data warehouse and the college assessment reporting data system suitable for institutional accreditation purposes.
*Serve as in-house expert in database design, data repository and application integration.
*Obtain data and produce reports from a variety of data sources for dissemination to internal and external audiences.
*Assist in all programming responsibilities as needed.
*Assure quality control standardization, change management, and strategic planning for all database systems.
*Serve as first-line technical support for the administrative systems users with database related issues.
*Provide technical advice and support to users. This includes creating ad-hoc reports, data analysis and correction, training and problem solving.
*Analyze data using a variety of software packages.
*Support the philosophy and mission of the College.
*Perform related duties as assigned.
