Job Summary: Under the direction of the Dean for Academic Services this position is responsible for the maintenance, administration and management of the infrastructure and network operations of the College, including server administration, directory services, and the devices required for network connectivity. This position is responsible to monitor network operations, troubleshooting and traffic management; oversee and lead implementation of security policies, software patches and system software upgrades; develop implementation plans and coordinate large scale rollouts of new hardware and software solutions; evaluate new technologies; conduct needs analysis, conduct capacity planning, and make recommendations on device and system upgrades and enhancements.
Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications
*A Bachelors degree or an Associate’s degree or completion of an accredited vocational training program in an information technology or related program.
*Advance technical knowledge of switched and routed Ethernet network environments including wired, wireless, and WAN technologies in support of initiatives and strategic goals of the college.
*A demonstrated understanding and knowledge of network and traffic management technologies and schemes, V-LAN and Firewall technologies, VPN and encryption services.
*Experience with and knowledge of network protocols and services, including TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, OSPF, SNMP, SMTP and other protocols.
*Experience with and knowledge of Microsoft server platforms and technologies, including but not limited to: Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft Exchange Server, Microsoft ISA/TMG Server, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft System Center
*Configuration Manager, Microsoft System Center Operations Manager, Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine Manager.
*Experience with and knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory Services.
*Experience with and knowledge of Microsoft client platforms and server technologies.
*Ability to work with employees with varying degrees of computer knowledge.
*Ability to use various knowledge-bases, and search engines, to perform searches for solutions to technical problems.
*Acceptance of the responsibility to promote the welfare and best interests of students at all times.
*The ability to perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with applicable laws, regulations and goals of the institution, community and technical college system.
Preferred Qualifications
*Four (4) or more years of experience designing, deploying, and administering large scale network deployments supporting multiple geographic locations.
*Two (2) or more years of experience supervising information technology staff and information technology project management.
*Fundamental understanding of firewall technologies, VPN services, and traffic management using QOS and packet shaping.
*Comprehensive experience managing Microsoft Windows in a multi-server environment.
*Fundamental understanding of information technology security practices and processes as well as the creation and deployment of security policies.
*Experience working in enterprise environments with system supporting 500+ users.
*Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
*Microsoft Certified Technology Specialists (MCTS).
Duties: *Provide technical and professional leadership in specialized areas of information technology, specifically routing and firewall technologies, Microsoft platform systems, Microsoft server applications, and Ancillary Systems.
*Maintain and monitor campus wired and wireless network and VoIP infrastructure.
*Perform operating system installations, maintenance, upgrades on college-operated infrastructure as needed.
*Acquire, test plan and deploy software and security patches on network clients, servers and devices.
*Design, plan, implement, administer, document and maintain traffic management technologies.
*Train college technical staff and assist them with network issues important to their work.
*Resolve escalated helpdesk calls and train technical staff on discovered resolutions.
*Plan, implement, and maintain security policies and standards.
*Participate in planning, design, and implementation for new technology initiatives.
*Develop and maintain internal documentation.
*Perform related duties as assigned.
