Job Summary: Relocation expenses will not be paid. This is a temporary Pathways Internship Program appointment not-to-exceed September 30, 2013. This position is located in Veterinary Services.

The Pathways Internship Program is designed to provide students enrolled in a wide variety of educational institutions, from high school to graduate level, with opportunities to work in agencies and explore Federal careers while still in school and while getting paid for the work performed. Students who successfully complete the program may be eligible for conversion to a permanent job in the civil service.

Applicants can qualify by meeting the EDUCATION requirements specified below and/or the SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE requirements.

EDUCATION
GS-5: Successful completion of 4 years of education beyond the high school level.

TRANSCRIPTS are required.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE AT THE GS-5 GRADE LEVEL Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the next lower level in the Federal Service. This experience may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors. Examples of qualifying experience include, but are not limited to:
Experience using a computer and a variety of common software packages such as word processing, spreadsheet, database, internet, presentation, and graphics.
Experience inputting, retrieving and/or consolidating data into a computerized database and evaluating data for irregularities.
Experience accomplishing work as a team member and dealing with changing priorities and deadlines.

Duties: Duties may include but are not limited to:
Gathers and assembles relevant technical materials and program data.
Reviews requests for information and gathers information from files and records, and follows up with staff.
Maintains a variety of files and records with responsibility for properly filing materials by subject matter.
Inputs, retrieves, and/or consolidates animal health data into a computerized database.
Assists in the planning and support of meetings, conferences and/or trainings.
Provides general clerical support and assistance to professional and/or managerial staff.
