Job Summary: This position is responsible to prepare and teach of variety of Paralegal program courses, leading to defined program learning outcomes. This position works closely with the Paralegal Program Chair in curriculum design and student success strategies. This position reports to the Dean of Health, Business, and Professional Services.
This is a full-time tenure track faculty position contracted on an annual basis. The salary for this position is $42,500 to $57,000 DOE/DOQ. The salary will be prorated to reflect the actual number of contract days worked in the remainder of the contract year. A collective bargaining agreement exists, and membership in the TCC Federation of Teachers or payment of a service fee is required. Placement on the faculty salary schedule will be commensurate with educational background and experience. Evening and off campus assignments may be a part of the instructional load. Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the department. Degrees must be from accreditedcolleges or universities recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and verified by official transcripts.
Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university.
Three (3) full time equivalent (FTE) years of work experience in a legal setting with Paralegal team members.
Ability to meet State of Washington vocational certification requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Masters Degree in related field or Doctorate of Jurisprudence from an accredited college or university.
Experience teaching in higher education.
Nationally certified or registered Paralegal -or- member in good standing of a state bar association.
Experience with use of computers in a law office and/or courtroom.
Experience with diverse community populations.
Duties: Prepares and teaches a variety of paralegal education courses including didactic classroom as well as hybrid or fully on-line.
Maintains effective working relationships with the legal community.
Advises students in the Paralegal program.
Participates actively in departmental responsibilities to include curriculum review, learning outcomes assessment, program development and faculty meetings.
Assists in staffing program advisory committee.
Supports maintenance of specialty accrediting records and requirements.
Serves on college committees and participates in college governance.
Participates in department, division, and college activities and performs other duties normally assigned to full-time faculty members.
Maintain office hours in accordance with Faculty negotiated agreement requirements.
Perform related duties as assigned.
