Job Summary: These positions are responsible to participate in the design, implementation, and evaluation of the nursing curriculm with a focus on nurse generalist and hold expertise in the following areas: medical-surgical, maternal-child pediatrics, or mental health nursing. These positions report to the Associate Dean for Nursing.
Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications
Masters degree in nursing from an accredited college or university, which includes evidence of preparation in curriculum development or teaching.
Hold a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Washington, or eligible for licensure in the state of Washington.•Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in the practice of nursing.
Able to meet State of Washington vocational certification requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience or course work in curriculum design and evaluation.
Experience using multiple methods of technology to facilitate nursing education.
Experience using writing as a method of evaluation in nursing.
Duties: Participate in the activities of TCC faculty and serve on committees as selected, elected or appointed.
Participate in the development of the overall nursing curriculm and specific courses, including the identification of.
Outcomes.
Content.
Learning experience, classroom, clinical, and skills lab.
Teaching and evaluation techniques.
Participate in the revision, implementation, and evaluation of the nursing curriculum.
Be responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating content in area of expertise throughout the curriculum.
Participate in activities of the nursing faculty team, attend nursing faculty meetings per negotiated agreement, and serve on departmental committees as elected or appointed.
Participate in development and evaluation of policies and standards for selection, admission, promotion, and graduation of nursing students.
Assume responsibility for the teaching-learning process of students in the classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings.
Plan and implement any special learning experiences needed by students in nursing specialties, as relates to instructor's area of expertise.
Participate in the selection of clinical facilities and in the development of positive interpersonal relationships with the personnel of such institutions.
Provide clinical instruction for students by:
Coordinating with the clinical facility the orientation an the scheduling of students at the site.
Planning and implementing a quarterly schedule of clinical experiences for the students.
Surpervising activities of students in the clinical facility.
Evaluating students achievement in terms of clinical outcomes utilizing student's clinical performance and the written assignments pertaining to client care.
Preparing and presenting pre- and p-post- conference programs for students in the clinical facility.
Participate in periodic evaluation of nursing program outcomes and educational outcomes.
Provide for periodic classroom assessment of teaching effectiveness by students consistent with college policies.
Interpret the philosophy and outcomes of this Associate Degree Nursing Program to the community within and outside the College.
Participate in College governance and activities to support the Strategic Plan and Initiatives of Tacoma Community College.
Maintain office hours according to college policies.
Attend division meetings.
Lead the team of nursing faculty in Nursing I-VI and/or Nursing Interventions I-III courses, as appropriate. (See Team Leader Position Description.)
Perform related duties as assigned.
