Job Summary: Work for a company that industry leaders turn to when they want fast, accurate results and exceptional service! The QC Group is hiring customer-minded individuals for our newest Metrology lab in Albuquerque.

The Lab Supervisor will lead all dimensional inspection, engineering, quoting, scheduling, delivery and customer service functions in a satellite lab operation. Sets the pace for job performance and world-class lab standards. Responsible for business development by delivering quality results to customers on time at the least cost. Responsible for business unit financial performance. Performs scheduling, shipping, receiving, and administrative functions for the lab.

Qualifications: BS degree in mechanical engineering or 2 year degree in mechanical technologies with 4+ years experience in inspection/engineering and business leadership.

Meets all requirements of Inspector, Level A.

7-10 years experience in precision inspection of a variety of mechanical components using a wide range of inspection equipment.

Minimum of 3 years experience in a customer service role.

Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience.

Professional attitude, appearance, and organization of work area.

Demonstrates outstanding character in the workplace (as defined by the top 12 character qualities).

Demonstrates a general working knowledge of all lab equipment. This includes terminology of major components, a thorough understanding of equipment mechanics, capability, and limitations.

Has developed advanced written and oral communication skills. Demonstrates good interpersonal skills in building effective working relationships with customers and subordinates.

Demonstrates the ability to manage time effectively, prioritize work, analyze and solve problems, and complete paperwork accurately.

Experience working independently under pressure, performing multiple tasks, with multiple deadlines.

Intermediate Excel, Word, and database skills.

Demonstrates a teachable attitude for optimal learning and career growth.

Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs occasionally and to sit at a single workstation for an entire shift, with scheduled breaks.

Duties: Receives all incoming product and establishes Work Orders for inspection and engineering.

Prepares initial quotes for review. Submits quotes to customers following approval.

Loads and maintains Lab Schedule to ensure accuracy of information for on-time deliveries to the customer. Communicates changes and customer scheduling needs to supervisor and inspectors. Adjusts schedule under direction of Lab Supervisor. May make own decisions to adjust schedule according to customer needs.

Maintains information systems. Performs daily server system backups.

Completes accurate records (on paper and electronic data) in order to provide customers with excellent results. Also completes accurate records for continuous improvement. These records include inspection reports, time cards, training records, equipment maintenance logs, continuous improvement initiatives, and corrective action reports. Understands the function and purpose of these records. Completes records neatly with a goal for 100% accuracy of content and spelling.

Keeps accurate records of completed work, billed dollars, and time deliveries, and other key metrics for regular management review.

Assists in receiving materials. Lifts, carries, and palletizes product. Performs product-sorting functions.

Cleans work areas and common areas according to documented procedures. Organizes work and storage areas for efficient workflow and to showcase the quality of work in the lab.

Interfaces directly with customers regarding purchase orders, due dates and other customer-service details.

Ensures method of payment is established with customers. Maintains low WIP dollars by swift processing of billings. Processes credit card payments.

Performs internal quality system audits as assigned.

Sets up and inspects customer-supplied products, using a variety of equipment, including hand tools, comparators, touch-probe CMMs including Zeiss and Brown & Sharpe. Inspections include first articles, special tests, capability studies, and gage R&R studies.

Maintains information systems. Completes accurate records (on paper and electronic data) in order to provide customers with excellent results. Also completes accurate records for continuous improvement. These records include inspection reports, time cards, training records, equipment maintenance logs, continuous improvement initiatives, and corrective action reports. Understands the function and purpose of these records. Completes records neatly with a goal for 100% accuracy of content and spelling.

Performs intermediate checks of equipment to confirm calibration before use.

Works with others to have verification checks performed on failures.

Assists in receiving materials. Lifts, carries, and palletizes product.

Cleans work areas and common building areas according to documented procedures. Organizes work and storage areas for efficient workflow and to showcase the quality of work in the lab.

Interfaces directly with customers to confirm job expectations at job start. Works directly with customers on problem-solving assignments. Participates in customer meetings as needed.

Performs source inspections and customer on-site inspections as assigned.

Successfully completes additional classroom training as needed. Remains familiar with current technology by reading industry periodicals and books, learning from videos, taking QC classes, and pursuing outside training and educational opportunities.

Performs all other work-related duties as assigned.
