Job Summary: The Director of the Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) is responsible for the operation of the Educational Opportunity Center Program. This position is funded by an external grant and continued empolyment is directly related upon continued funding.

Qualifications: Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree required. Must have knowledge of TRIO programs and federal education programs for disadvantaged students. A minimum of three years' experience in working with disadvantaged, culturally, and racially diverse student populations. A minimum of thre years supervising professional staff, including counselors and instructors. Strong supervisory skills and knowledge of leadership and management techniques. Ability to coordinate multiple program components. The employee must possess knowledge of the Financial Aid and Admissions process; of Project regulations and guidelines; and the ability to relate to students with integrity for confidentiality. Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills required.

Preferred Qualifications
M.A. in counseling, educational administration or a related field preferred.

Duties: Manages employees in the department and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Executes tasks such as requisitions relating to supplies, equipment and travel; Attends and actively participates in campus, state, and regional meetings that have a direct bearing on the operations and services offered by the program; Maintains follow-up procedures/database; Maintains relations with school personnel, community agencies and parents; Maintains good working relations with Financial Aid and Admission Office at postsecondary institutions; Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations' policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Informs EOC personnel of institutional policies and guidelines, current educational trends, and pertinent community factors that may impact project operations; Carries out the responsibilities and duties of an EOC Program Specialist; Assists in the research and submission of the program grant proposal; Performs other duties as deemed necessary or assigned.
