Job Summary: Longfellow Elementary School is located in central Pasco, and enrolls approximately 570 students. Longfellow staff is committed to providing a safe and nurturing learning environment for all students. The school offers numerous activities for students and opportunities for parent involvement.

The principal shall be responsible for providing instructional leadership for students and staff. He or she shall maintain overall school site operations; receive, distribute, and communicate information to enforce school, district, and state policies; coordinate site activites; participate as an active member of the distrct leadership team; and create a school environment in which all children can achieve their potential.

Qualifications: A current adminstrative credential.
Demonstrated ability to establish relationships and work effectively with diverse elements within the school and community.
Five years of successful experience as a teacher and/or educational administrator, with a minimum of 1 year administrative experience; Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Demonstrated leadership and experience in supervision and evaluation of staff.
Knowledge of current elementary curriculum, assessment, and instructional practices to improve student achievement.
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge and experience in improving student achievement based on state and national learning standards, school improvement plan, and all other state requirements.
Knowledge and experience in working with diverse populations, including students in alternative settings, English language learners and highly capable students.
Strong administrative skills, including supervision, budgeting, planning, organization, and goal setting.
Demonstrated ability to use computer technologies to enhance instructional, classroom, and school management.
Skills appropriate to manage personnel and programs, communicate effectively, utilize existing resources, engage in shared decision making, take timely action using sound judgment, and solve problems.
Demonstrated rapport with the community.
Knowledge and experience with intervention strategies.

Duties: Provides strong instructional leadership to facilitate opportunites for all students to meet or exceed academic standards.
Participates as a positive member of the building and district's leadership team and serves as leader on building school improvement team.
Oversees and manages school administrative functions as assigned to maintain safe and efficient school operations within district guidelines.
Supervises personnel, monitors studetn performance, provides for professional growth and achieves the overall objectives of the district's instructional program.
Facilitates communication between staff, students, and/or parents to evaluate situations, solve problems, and/or resolve conflicts.
Develops and maintains effective relationships with parents/guardians, community, colleagues, and students.
Recommends staff placement to the Human Resources department for action.
Evaluates personnel to achieve standards, maximize performance, and maintain safety.
Processes student disciplinary and corrective actions, personnel actions, and/or related matters for the purpose of documenting such actions and adhering to district policies and/or education code.
Recommends policies, procedures and actions to provide district personnel with direction and/or data for decision making.
Supervises studetn activites outside of the school day and ensures adequate student supervision.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
