Job Summary: This is a 1.0 FTE Secondary Level Special Education-Math Resource Room Teacher position. Preference will be given to those with secondary level experience in Special Education and Math. Applicant must be HQT in Special Education and Math. This position is open to any qualified person. Qualifications: Responsibilities include working under direct supervision using standardized routines, directing other persons within a small work unit, and tracking budget expenditures. Utilization of some resources from other work units may be required to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to have some impact on the Organization’s services.
Duties: Works effectively with others for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities
Collaborates with school personnel, parents and various community agencies for the purpose of improving the quality of student outcomes, developing solutions, planning curriculum, collecting data and creating Individual Education Plans (IEP) for students
Prepares Individual Education Plans (IEP) using district required forms and conducts IEP meetings with students, their parents or guardians, and appropraite stff for the purpose of complying with state and federal requirements in the provision of special education services
Evaluates students' abilities in basic academics for the purpose of assisting in the diagnosis of learning disorders, developing remediation plans and/or evaluating student progress
Instructs students for the purpose of improving their success in academics through a defined course of study
Manages student behavior for the purpose of providing a safe and an optimal learning environment
Participates in various meetings for the purpose of receiving and/or providing information
Communicates with special services secretary at least monthly for the purpose of conveying accurate and timely information regarding special education student enrollment status as well as changes to student IEPs
Reports incidents (e.g. fights, suspected child abuse, suspected substance abuse, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining personal safety of students, providing a positive learning environment and adhering to Education Code, administrative and/or school policies.
Shows an interest in extracurricular activities (e.g. coaching, clubs, foreign exchange program, etc.) for the purpose of assisting with extended learning opportunities for students and building student rapport
Supports classroom teachers and other school personnel for the purpose of assisting them in the implementation of classroom goals and Individual Education Plan IEP goals
Participates in out of classroom assignments (e.g. training, meetings, etc.) for the purpose of assisting in the development of an effective educational environment and/or receiving and providing information to other parties
Participates in building leadership and extracurricular activities (e.g. BLLT, Math is Cool, etc.) for the purpose of assisting in the development of staff and student learning.
Uses a collaborative model to gather data and write IEPs in accordance with WAC guidelines for content and timeline compliance
