Job Summary: Sterile Insect Production Workers perform assignments in sterile insect mass production, packaging, feeding, storing, knock down, and delivering of live insects. The incumbent is also involved in the cleaning and maintenance of the areas they work in and the equipment utilized.

Qualifications: To qualify, you must show you have had training and experience of sufficient scope and quality to provide you with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Duties: Performs steps in the preparation of the diet media for adult flies.
Prepares incubation trailers, readies containers by loading with flies, placing lids on boxes, feeding, stacking, and strapping stacks.
Prepares, cleans, and repairs containers used for rearing flies.
Processes pupae boxes and bags, distributes pupae within bags and boxes, verifies counts, stacks properly, etc.
Moves pupae from preparation to incubation trailers and adult flies from incubation to refrigerated trailers and performs all phases of the knock down process, getting the flies ready to be dropped from the aircraft.
Uses correct procedures for box and tray washing and maintenance of equipment.
Keeps all work areas and equipment clean, aids in setting up/preparing for next day’s work, and dispenses and dilutes bleach used in cleaning.
Follows all safety guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures.
