Job Summary: This is a 1.0 FTE Kindergarten Language Development Teacher position. This position will help build children’s vocabulary and background knowledge by using reading, writing, literature, and the arts to expand the horizons of kindergarteners.
The person filling this position must be well-versed in children’s language development, children’s literature, the reading and writing processes of young children, and have some knowledge of the visual, musical, and physical arts as they relate to small children and the integration of learning. The candidate must also have excellent communication skills and be able to work collaboratively with several kindergarten teachers and their children.
The candidate must be very flexible, willing to cover recess and playground activities and work in classrooms and an open area classroom space.

Job related experience is desired.

Duties: Demonstrates an interest in teaching pupils for the purpose of improving the quality of student outcomes. Maintains a level of professional preparation and knowledge of subject matter for the purpose of being able to demonstrate a depth and breadth of knowledge of theory and content in one’s area of specialty and relating such knowledge in the delivery of services. Maintains efforts for continued improvement in profession for the purpose of enhancing skills and teaching effectiveness. Manages a special and technical environment for the purpose of facilitating students’ learning. Participates in building leadership and extracurricular activities for the purpose of assisting in the development of staff and student learning. Participates in out-of-classroom assignments for the purpose of assisting in the development of an effective educational environment and/or receiving and providing information to other parties. Provides student discipline for the purpose of providing for the safety and welfare of students and maintaining an overall positive learning environment. Shows an interest in extracurricular activities for the purpose of assisting with extended learning opportunities for students and building student rapport. Utilizes specialized instructional skills for the purpose of implementing the District’s prescribed curriculum. Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
