Job Summary: Phase One Consulting Group is seeking a Senior Technical Project Manager. Typical duties will include day to day project management of engineering support staff, and interfacing with senior government clients. Project Manager will also be responsible for system and hardware upgrades, and other infrastructure related projects. Project Manager will leverage his/her background in network infrastructure to work with IT stakeholders during evaluations of new technologies. PM must analyze vendor products and determine best fit for client's architecture, based on the client's needs and desires. PM must possess the technical ability to provide hands on experience if required.
8+ years in a technical project management, product development, or consulting services profession.
High degree of competency and experience with project management including: issue and risk identification and management, tracking dependencies and milestones, and communication of overall project status.
Ability to creatively solve challenging business/technology problems.
Experience with the full SDLC using Agile methodologies.
Experience with enterprise-level proof of concepts (POC) and experience building out a POC methodology.
Must be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize workload effectively, and thrive in a dynamic and complex environment.
Passion for customer service.
Able to design and oversee the development of network design concepts and determine feasibility in terms of scale, cost, time, resources to maintain.
Strong communicator that has the ability to work without direct supervision or detailed direction.
Candidates must be able to work on-site at client sites located Washington, DC and must be able to obtain a U.S. Federal government client badge and may be required to pass a government background investigation.
Solution architecture background.
Possess high-level knowledge and proficiency in project management methodologies, resource management practices and change management techniques.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, or ITIL certification.
Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Management Information Systems, Economics, or equivalent experience.
Duties: Manage, design and execute effective proof of concepts including IT Infrastructure products (server management, networking, virtual desktop, etc.), storage area network, hypervisors, information dashboards, wireless, and mobile technology.
Overall management of team to ensure stability of projects, and provide weekly status reports on assigned projects.
Define the full lifecycle process model and procedures for technology evaluation, from idea generation to sunset of legacy technology.
Coordinate between government staff and contractors to identify, track and remove roadblocks and ensure delivery of the support services.
Manage a growing team of engineers in support of the Infrastructure Director.
Work with business stakeholders to balance business and technical objectives and manifest these as clear, stable priorities for the team.
Provide "hands on" support to some of the proof of concepts.
Effectively manage trade-offs between priorities/schedule versus client demands and manage staff accordingly.
Actively contribute to the team's culture of having fun together, embracing change, and delivering.
Report on progress, risk mitigation and issues.
Evaluate business cases and writing/performing alternative analysis.
