Job Summary: The city of Hobbs is seeking a Senior Project Engineer.
Qualifications: Education and Experience
Graduation from a four-year accredited college or university with a degree in civil engineering or a closely related field. Minimum of 5 years of post graduate work and minimum of 2 years work experience after registration as a Professional Engineer. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices and methods as applicable to a municipal setting.
Thorough knowledge of applicable City policies, laws, and regulations affecting Department activities.
Considerable skill in arriving at cost estimates on complex projects.
Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with employees, consultants, other governmental agency representatives, City officials and the general public.
Ability to conduct necessary engineering research and compile comprehensive reports.
Skill in operation of below listed tools and equipment.
Licensing and Certifications
Valid State issued Driver’s License
Residency requirement: residing within the five mile planning radius of the city.
Must be physically capable of moving about on construction work sites and under adverse field conditions.
Duties: Regular attendance is required to perform the duties of this position. Exercises technical supervision over clerical, administrative, and professional staff as assigned. Plans and organizes workloads and staff assignments, trains, motivates and evaluates assigned staff.
Using excellent customer service skills, establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other employees, officials, and all members of the general public.
Reviews and makes recommendations in the development of short and long range plans, gathers, interprets, and prepares data for studies, reports and recommendations.
Coordinates department activities with other departments and agencies as needed. Provides professional advice to various City Departments and the City Engineer. Makes presentations as needed by the City Engineer to various boards groups and organizations.
