Job Summary: The Community Relations Manager works in partnership with the Regional Chief Executive Officer (RCE), Director of Resource Development (DRD), Chief Development Officer (CDO) and leadership volunteers to create and implement a comprehensive fund development plan that will achieve new levels of giving for the Chapter. The incumbent is responsible for significant revenue generation for the region within their assigned chapter. This includes focused effort and time spent on supporting the DRD and CDO on direct donor cultivation and solicitation and personally cultivating and soliciting donors. Additionally, incumbent is responsible for oversight of special events. This position is responsible for corporate participation and sponsorship within the community. The position assumes responsibility for increasing Red Cross visibility and brand awareness within that community. This position develops and maintains community relationships as it pertains to all lines of service and inform/update respective directors to enhance our service delivery.This position is also responsible for recruiting volunteers to support all lines of service.
Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in non-profit management, community planning, business administration, communications, sales, marketing or a related field is required.
Experience Three or more years of successful fund raising or sales experience. Experience in project management, volunteer management, dealing with external relationships, and diverse cultures highly preferred. Experience in the non-profit sector is desirable as well as supervisory experience (volunteer staff).
Duties: In collaboration with leadership volunteers, and with the input from key staff members, the Manager designs and implements organization-wide fundraising activities and events, including major individual gifts, corporate gifts and sponsorship, special events, disaster fundraising, and in-kind gifts.
Personally calls upon individual and corporate donors and prospective donors for major gifts, events sponsorship and for other program funding throughout the Chapter's jurisdiction. Coordinates personal solicitation of donors with Regional Chief Executive Officer and leadership volunteers.
Develops fund raising goals for special events and is accountable to ensure that goals are met through recruiting event chairs and committees and overseeing their activities.
Proactively seeks ways to utilize volunteers within the Development Department and provides volunteers with appropriate training, supervision, and recognition;.
During disasters, raises funds for disaster relief operations in accordance with National policies and procedures.
Ensures thorough knowledge and understanding of the American Red Cross mission, corporate and Chapter goals, objectives, policies and priorities. Communicates these goals and priorities to employees, volunteers, donors and the community.
Develop strong networks within the local community to grow prospects for potential revenue streams, event sponsorships, volunteer opportunities and to grow American Red Cross visibility and brand awareness.
Coordinate with Communications Coordinator to publicize mission, and events and to heighten public awareness.
Work with program staff and volunteers to ensure that every special event and activity contains program content to enhance the knowledge of the audience and the general public about the American Red Cross mission, programs and services.
Partner with Health and Safety staff to strategize sales opportunities and assist when appropriate in helping Health and Safety department meet their targeted revenue goals through cross-sales tactics.
