Status: Full-time position
Location: Santa Fe, NM
Job Summary: To perform review of proposed major development plans to ensure compliance with City requirements primarily related to water utility specifications or development review.
Qualifications: Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, landscape architecture, or related field
Four years experience in local government zoning, landscape, terrain management and enforcement and plan review, or construction with an emphasis on site design
An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Duties: Reviews building permits to ensure conformance to City and County grading, drainage and terrain management regulations and conducts final inspections.
Coordinates pre-construction conferences and performs inspections of site development work to ensure conformance to City and extraterritorial code standards.
Reviews requests for release of monies to assure completion of work.
Performs inspections of new developments for infrastructure, grading and drainage and other quasi-public and public works construction for compliance with plans and specifications.
Prepares test reports, field logs and written documentation including recommendations on action taken on failing tests and substandard work.
Consults with applicants; presents information and functions as professional staff representative to Planning Commission, City Council, EZC/EZA/BCC and other boards and commissions.
Functions as associate staff liaison to Board of Adjustment on variances or appeals.
Assists with development and review of code amendments.
Works closely with legal staff on controversial issues.
Responds to public complaints; functions as direct contact to general public on issue related to assigned responsibilities.
Additional essential functions for assignment at the Water Division:
Ensures that distribution system extensions or rehabilitation work done by developers or Water Division contractors meets City of Santa Fe SDCW standards, specifications, policies, and ordinances.
Inspects construction daily, assists City of Santa Fe SDCW engineer in review/comment on construction drawings.
Performs field and record investigation, prepares detailed field card with map and quantities.
Meets and works with applicant in locating service.
Researches records and maps for the location, type and size of water facilities.
Conducts field investigations for the location, materials, sizes of water lines and services; conducts field and record research for services and sizing.
Assists City of Santa Fe SDCW engineer to review or design water distribution extension/rehabilitation plans, standards, and specifications; prepare/review quantities and estimates.
Provides accurate and complete review/design in compliance with design standards and provides detailed redline comments/design. Attends meetings as assigned by supervisor.
Assists public and Water Division personnel in field or office research; is directed by Engineer.
May provide emergency line locating services for Municipal water lines as needed.
